You will usually receive your refund within 3 weeks of the date when the IRS receives your return, even faster if you elect to have it directly deposited into your checking or savings account.
Note: “Legally separated” for this purpose means legally separated under a decree of divorce or separate maintenance. If you were “legally separated” on the day your spouse died during the tax year and you did not remarry on or before the last day of the tax year, you are also legally separated on the last day of the tax year.
